The modern financial system is based on the "separation of ownership and control." Investors own
corporations, and professional managers secure financing and run them. It is a system based on a
combination of trust, reputation and oversight. However, this system seems to have failed U.S. investors
at Enron, Tyco, Qwest, WorldCom and other corporations. It has also drawn criticism of investment
bankers and public accountants and led to federal legislation.

The School of Business at the University of Kansas invites you to join leading practitioners and
scholars for a half-day conference on the current state and future of corporate governance and
  corporate disclosure.
