BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Anderson grew up in Council Bluffs,
Iowa, and attended Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha,
Nebraska. He graduated from the
University
of Iowa
in Iowa City with bachelor's
and master's degrees in business and economics. He
studied for his Ph.D. at the
Katz Graduate School of Business
at the University of Pittsburgh.
He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (
CFA
). For a short stretch
during 1993-1994 Anderson worked as a financial analyst
in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Previous academic appointments include
Penn State and the University of Missouri. In Fall 2000
Anderson renounced the Missouri Tigers (boo, hiss) and became a
KU Jayhawk. He lives in Lawrence with his wife Shari, their
two sons, and their border collie-yellow lab mixed breed dog named
Bogey. The Andersons soon expect to welcome an adopted daughter
from China into the family. TEACHING: In Fall 2007 Anderson is on academic sabbatical is not offering undergraduate and MBA classes. In Spring 2008 he will return to the classroom and offer section of FIN 420-International Finance to undergraduate students. RESEARCH: Anderson engages in empirical research on capital markets, corporate finance, contracting and governance, and international finance. His research has been published in the Journal of Finance , the Journal of Financial Economics , The Journal of Financial Intermediation , The Journal of Corporate Finance , The Financial Review , the International Review of Financial Analysis , LatinFinance , and in the Proceedings of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Conference on Bank Structure and Competition. SERVICE: Anderson serves as an associate editor for The Financial Review. At KU Anderson is affiliated with the Center of Latin American Studies (CLAS), The Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS), and the Center for International Business Education & Research (CIBER). |
